Another mind over matter moment. I kinda dreaded this run because I could not see myself running for 5 minutes straight…three times. I know that sounds sad to some of you, but I’m a newbie. 🙂 Pray for me.
Truth is, I did not have that “I feel like I’m gon’ die” feeling that accompanied my earlier runs. Today, I had to talk myself into going “just a few more seconds.” I had to remind myself not to look too far head. When I did, I got overwhelmed and started walking. Yes, running requires some deep Jedi mind tricks sometimes.
Sadly, I also saw a part of me that likes to quit when things get hard under the guise of “this isn’t meant for me” or “running is just not my thing.” Once I realized this, I was able to make it through the third interval (which you’d think would be the hardest one) without stopping, breathing comfortably and a nice little burn in my calves. Yay me!
Motivation for a yay you moment:
Jesus said “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 ESV
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 ESV
Have a wonderful day y’all!
